Fixing GERD 30 Day Experiment- Day 11-15

Happy Thanksgiving! Last week I actually saw improvement and that was exciting. This week on top of continuing my AIP diet (Day 39), And continuing my current supplements. I will be starting Zinc L Carnosine (This one). I didn’t discover this until I was a few days into my experiment but from the research I did it seems promising. I have decided to see if the claim to fame is true. I’m cautiously optimistic.

I just finished up a stressful time preparing for Black Friday at our flagship store and still I felt better than I have in months. So progress, but I have learned the body does not heal overnight and even though I don’t want to face it, I realize it could be the adrenaline from the week making me not feel so bad. So I continue on the path to see if it’s the real deal and the symptoms have truly calmed down.

With that I’ll begin my journal

Day 11

Another 8 hours of sleep. Something to be thankful for, it’s Thanksgiving and since our family lives in another state, and it’s just my son and I, we decide to make steaks, sweet potatoes and artichokes. We’ve also decided to take it easy today. Maybe wrap some presents and just hang out. I leave on Sunday for Phoenix so I might get ahead of schedule and pack just to get that done. Tomorrow is Black Friday and I’ll be running around like a crazy person so I think today is just what I need…a break. I start my Zinc Carnosine today, so I’m hopeful no adverse effects. I’ll let you know how it goes.Afternoon Update: Well it’s been a successful day no acid to speak of a little nausea after lunch. Evening Update: The acid hit me hard this evening, it was a rough night. Maybe stress about tomorrow. Maybe stress about my pending travel. Regardless I wasn’t able to eat dinner. I had a bite of my steak which turned out great but that’s all I could manage.I didn’t pack but I did finish laundry so at least packing will be easy. I took my Zinc Carnosine right before bed with my mastic gum and melatonin. From what I’ve read it’s okay to take those together. I had No adverse reactions.

Day 12

Happy Black Friday, today is our big day. This is our super-bowl. All our Design choices and Sales we’ve chosen to run will reflect on how we did this year. Our flagship store is primed and ready. I woke up at 2:30 this morning, so not a good nights sleep. The acid has calmed down so that’s the upside. Adrenaline helps me get through these big projects but is horrible for rest and relaxation. Maybe my next experiment needs to be managing stress….Evening Update: Overall great day, when the adrenaline died down I did have some acid but manageable. And bonus we beat last years numbers so incredibly successful day!

Day 13

Ahhh…Saturday at last. The hardest thing I have to do is pack. Packing is usually pretty easy for me but there will be supplement sorting and food planning. So a bit more challenging.

I’ve been pretty consistent in my routine and have been really good with my diet. My appetite is improving and I’m back up to 110. Overall I’m feeling better. Still improvement is needed but feeling so much more in control of my bodyEvening Update: Well I confess I did my shopping and laid in bed all day. I must have lifted something too heavy because my back is all messed up again. I took a nap and really haven’t moved since, but as far as the acid and nausea go not so bad. After eating I had the normal bout of it but not an all day event. I guess that’s the thing, it’s more controlled now. I still have days that are brutal but the suffering is shorter and instead of feeling hopeless I know it will go away.

Day 14

Good morning, today I travel for the first time doing AIP and using supplements. Am I looking forward to this. That is a firm no. I’m prepared as I can be. I have access to a full kitchen so that is helpful and will make it easier. I’m keeping my meal plan basic. Chicken, sweet potatoes, salad. Hamburger. My supplements are packed in my pill organizer. My lotions and potions are ready to go.So far the morning is going well, but I have a ton to do. My back is feeling a little better so that is positive. The hardest thing will be flying. Oh man I hate flying but I will survive it. I’m gone 5 days. I did have to purchase a A small blender for the trip because they don’t have one but I need my smoothies. The good news is I meal prepped for my son, cleaned the house and got my workout done. Morning Supplements done, grooming done, packing done! I have been working hard to knock it out….and my flight just got delayed by 2 hours . It’s thanksgiving weekend so not shocked. People are going home.Evening Update: Well I finally got on my flight, a 2 hour delay. Okay here’s something truly awesome, I have a huge fear of flying but I was calm as a cucumber. Nobody had to hold my hand as I tried to breathe through my panic. I still felt a little nervous but in comparison I was a rockstar.

Day 15

After finally getting to bed after midnight. I woke up this morning rushing to make lunch and get through my morning routine. Mission Accomplished…barely. I’m heading to the new store now to see what still needs to be done. Hoping I get this done quickly so I can visit our other stores. I’ll keep you posted. Evening Update: A super productive day. We got more done then I thought we would. After working so hard to get my lunch made this morning. I totally forgot it. Which meant I starved. So as soon as we got home, I scarfed it down and that was a huge mistake. They are not kidding when they say eat slow. I’mfeeling better now but it was touch and go for a bit. God bless Zofran for saving me.

5 Day Recap.
